Greetings from the Principal’s desk.
What’s happening at Ucon these days? Well, a lot! Due to the hard work and generosity of our SUPER WOMAN PTO, as well as contributions from many generous Ucon businesses, the Coeur d’ Alene Tribe, and Eagle Scout Stephan Hansen, we have been able to find the means to significantly upgrade the kindergarten playground, aka “kindergarten wasteland.” Much has happened there, and much will yet happen as shipments arrive. Keep an eye out for the exciting changes.
We also have managed to secure funding to purchase lovely, professional, high quality library furniture to replace the old make shift furnishings there now (which came from the old Ucon school). It should arrive by October. Find some time to drop by, sit your tired bones in a lovely padded oak chair, and read a Newbery Award-winning book.
Since day one for me here at Ucon, I have spoiled over the sound/PA system in the gym--it truly is worthless. For years, the school has been forced to utilize a good portable sound system designed for small gatherings, yet inadequate to produce sufficient amplification for large crowds. Through careful grant-writing we hope to secure funding to install a state-of-the-art, cordless, high quality sound/PA system for the Ucon gym. The cost of it will take your breath away, but by October I hope to have the system installed. The system we hope for will include several belt clip wireless mics. This, my friends, shall enable us to create the Ucon Drama Club. Through the generous service of some of our Ucon SUPER MOMS, we are developing a goal to perform a spring musical—possibly “Aladdin.” Keep your eyes--ears open and your finger in the air.
And thus we see that as generous people join together to offer funding, service, their time, and diligent hard work, we are able to cultivate this wonderful place called Ucon School where our children shall bloom and blossom in a garden of love and learning.
