Dear Ucon Wildcat Parents and Students:

Welcome to a new school year!  I am pleased to announce that our school achievement in Math and Language was very strong in 2015-16—especially Math!  Kudos to our parents, teachers and students for their diligence and commitment to excellence in learning.  Most (90%) of the motivation and drive to learn well is generated at home, so we greatly appreciate parents who hold their children accountable for their learning and support our teachers.  Please have your students read every night, spend 15 minutes on “Think Through Math,” and complete any homework in a timely fashion.

This spring and summer was extraordinary due to the fact that we replaced eight teachers!  Never before have I experience that much turnover in one year.  Please join me in welcoming to Ucon Elementary School a new kindergarten teacher: Mrs. Dye; two new first grade teachers: Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Hatch; a new third grade teacher: Mr. Platzer; a new fourth grade teacher: Mrs. McCrae; a new fifth grade teacher: Mr. Wellard; and two new Resource teachers: Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Preussner.  Indeed, we are grateful to have them join our Ucon staff, and to team with our outstanding Grizzled Veterans who year in, year out, perform so well.

Let’s all work together to provide a wonderful place where our students can blossom in a nourishing garden of love and learning!  Here’s to a great 2016-17!

Mr. Page
